This book offers a thorough analysis of India's adultery laws, tracing their historical roots, cultural settings, and legal developments. It examines how colonial legal frameworks and antiquated Hindu traditions gave way to post-independence revolutionary shifts that culminated in the Supreme Court's historic 2018 decision. This decision, which decriminalised adultery, signalled a significant change in Indian law towards gender equality and individual liberty. By means of a sophisticated examination, the tome underscores the intricate relationship among morality, law, and community values; it provides insightful information for academics, solicitors, and everyone with an interest in Indian law.
